Gene D. Holstein, age 83, of Portage, passed away October 3, 2017. He was born on July 15, 1934 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to the late Walter and Pauline (nee Shannon) Holstein.
Gene was a retired Local #150 Operating Engineer. He proudly served in the United States Army and loved the outdoors. Gene was a member of the American Legion Post 260.
Gene is survived by his wife of 43 years, Abby; two children, Gary Holstein, Rhonda Holstein, both of Michigan; grandchildren, Karissa (Israel), Madison, Bobbi Lynn (Cooter), Ashley, Taylor, Keith; and great grandchildren, Makenzee, Delilah, Izabel, Luciana, Darrin, Blaine, Hunter, Alexis, Julius, Sabryna.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janece Wilson.
A memorial service for Gene will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 6225 Lute Road, Portage with Pastor Kenneth Crews officiating. Memorial visitation will also be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 10:30 until time of service.
