Gene Richmond

Gene Alan Richmond, age 75 of Hobart passed away Monday, January 19, 2026. He was born on September 9, 1950, in Gary, Indiana to the late James and Edith Richmond. He was a 1968 graduate of Portage High School. He liked bowling, drag racing and spending time outdoors. Gene retired from Inland Steel where he worked as a boilermaker with United Steelworkers Local #1010.

He is survived by his son, James (Tracy) Richmond; grandchildren, Desirea (Jacob) Danielson, Ethan Mikusevic; and brother, Virgil (Millie) Crisman.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gene Michael Richmond; his parents, Jim and Edith Richmond; and brother, Paul Crisman.

Visitation for Gene will be held Monday, January 26, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 10:00 am at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at McCool Cemetery. For more information, please call (219) 942-2109.
