Genevieve "Gen" Lorraine Martin, age 90, of Portage passed away Thursday February 25, 2021 at Northwest Health Porter.  Genevieve was born May 14, 1930 in Gary, Indiana to the late Cecil and Elinor (Merry) Cole. She was a graduate of Horace Mann High School. Gen married her high school sweetheart, Bill Martin on August 29, 1953. Gen was a homemaker, loving mother and wife. She was a member of Kappa Sigma Tau Sorority. Gen was known as Mom by all her children's friends.

Genevieve is survived by her son, William Sheridan (Lisa Ann) Martin, Jr., of Cincinnati, OH; Three grandchildren, Racheal (Corey) Powers, Elyse Martin, and Miranda Martin; two nieces; one great niece; two great nephews; two great-great nieces and four great-great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years of marriage, Bill Martin, and her daughter, Lorraine Martin.  Memorial contributions in Gen's name may be made to the American Veterans at amvets.org.

Visitation will be from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday March 3, 2021 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368. Her funeral service will begin at 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home.  Genevieve's funeral service will be live streamed on Rees Funeral Home's Facebook Page.  Burial in Calumet Park Cemetery will begin with a procession that will start at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel at 10:00 am Thursday and conclude at the cemetery with a 11:00 am graveside service.
