Obituary

GEORGE ANTHONY AMAYA, age 18, of Lake Station, passed away Friday, November 5, 2010. George was born on February 18, 1992 in Munster, Indiana. He was active in wrestling, football, and P.A.T.H. until his graduation in 2010 from Edison High School. George was currently attending Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana. He was a member of the National Guard Reserve. George was also an active member of Grace Southern Baptist Church in Portage. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

George is survived by his father, Martin (Liza) Amaya of Lake Station; sister, Aaliyah Millikin; brother, Diego Martin Amaya; step-sisters, Cireliz Vazquez and Brisa Merced; grandparents, Sonia (Michael) Millikin of Valparaiso, George Arceo of East Chicago, and Alba Gomez of Honduras; many aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving family and friends.

George was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Arceo.

A funeral service for George will be Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Randy Forsythe officiating at Grace Baptist Church, 5785 Mulberry Ave., Portage. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart from 3 – 9 p.m., with a prayer service offered at 6:30 p.m. by Pastor Juan Rodriguez. Please call (219) 942-2109 or online at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.
