Obituary

George R Falk Jr age 61, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024. He was born May 5, 1963 to his late parents Mary (Sotak) Falk and George Falk Sr.  He grew up in Whiting, IN the youngest of seven children. He often said that he raised himself, learned from his brothers and never remembered not smoking. He told people that he started at the age of 6, but never inhaled only puffed.

In his youth he had long blond hair, wore what he liked and always had money from either trading beer cans or from summer work in the carnivals.  He was stubborn and had a mind of his own.  He refused to go to school on the first or last day, always leaving his books under his desk the day prior to summer vacation. His mother placed him in Catholic school, where George was often in trouble for the length of his hair.  She had hoped that he would go to Bishop Noll High School and go onto college for computers.  George did neither, he insisted on going to Clark High School with his friends.  He had a strong group of childhood friends who continued throughout his life. George dropped out of high school and eventually went to Purdue Calumet in Hammond, IN where he was awarded a GED. He also self-taught himself not only to use a computer, but also to build one and later went on to learn graphic arts from internet training videos.

During his life he only had a few jobs such as: auto part store, medical equipment delivery, blackjack and baccarat games dealer and most recently national parts manager for a trucking company.

He enjoyed photography, cooking, music and travel.  He excelled at creativity including graphic artwork, creative lighting and decoration for both Halloween and Christmas. George was fun and knew how to have it. He played his music so loud he could feel it in his chest and he had light shows that enhanced the experience. He made lifetime friends everywhere he went and shared freedom of expression with a unique group of individuals in both Key West and Roselawn whom he called family.

George never really drank until he got a golden retriever named Dash, who he had so much fun with.  He would drink and take the dog for 5-mile walks, where the dog would swim in George Lake and Lake Michigan. He laughed when he spoke of Dash coming out of Lake Michigan in the icy winter with icicles on his fur. He was a great exaggerator, if he forgot something he would input a different detail.

In life George encouraged people to try something new that may be outside of their comfort zone.  He knew how to make people smile and feel good about themselves.  He shared his collection of music with anyone who would enjoy it.  He loaned money to friends even when he needed the money to pay his bills.  Towards the end of his life, he shared a beautiful home surrounded by nature with his partner where he observed and   photographed the wildlife such as barred owls, deer, birds and more.  He also enjoyed time with his pets and was really great with his birds.

He married his girlfriend (Jacque Hazelwood) of 15 years February 9, 2024.  George was not only a partner, but he was a mentor who encouraged her to return to school for nursing.  George shared his experience and often reminded his wife that she was who he lived for and that she was his successor.

George was the last of his immediate family.  Therefore, preceded in death by his mother Mary (Sotak) Falk, father George Falk Sr, sister of a few hours baby Nancy, brother George Richard (Dicky) at 2 years old, and brothers: Raymond, Michael, Timothy and William (Bill).

He is survived by his wife Jacque (Holdeman) Falk, Mother-in-law Pamela (Taylor) Holdeman, Aunt Nancy (Sotak) Conor and many dear friends.

Per George's wishes there will be no services.  Cremation entrusted to Rees Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at George's home at a later date.
