George knew everybody, everybody knew George. George M. Flynn, age 64, of Portage, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014. He was born on August 27, 1949 in Gary, Indiana. George was a decorated veteran that proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant for the US Army during the Vietnam War. George received two silver stars and a purple heart during his tour of duty in Vietnam. George was a simple man and his two greatest joys in life were fishing and riding his motorcycle.
George is survived by his dear friends whom he adopted as his family; brother, David (Donna) Markos; nephew, Kenneth (Robyn) Markos; nieces, Angela Williamson and Stephanie (Augi) Voye; great nieces and nephews, Mary, Ashley, Alyssa, Braedyn, Melanie and Maverick. George also leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved dog, Harley Girl.
He was preceded in death by his adoptive father, George Markos.
A funeral service for George will take place 11:00 am Thursday August 14, 2014 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage with Deacon Robert Bonta officiating. He will be laid to rest at Blake Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be held Wednesday August 13, 2014 from 3:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. For more information, please call (219) 762-3013.
