Obituary

George David King, age 91 of Crown Point, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015. He was born on November 27, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John and Harriet King. He retired from IBEW Local 697 where he had worked as an Electrician. George served his country in the U.S. Army in WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart Medal among several others. He and his wife Norma are members of the Resurrection Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the time he spent volunteering as Camping and Activity Chairman for the Calumet District Boy Scouts from 1970-1981.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Lee King (nee Cress) of Crown Point, IN; one son, Dennis D. (Josephine) King of Valparaiso, IN; four grandchildren, Ginger, Vicki, Dennis J., and Theresa; several great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; son in law, Jerry Hein.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Bonnie J. Hein; one brother, John; four sisters, Mary, Ann, Dorothy, and Margret.

Funeral services are Monday, January 4, 2016 at 12 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph St., Winfield/Crown Point with Rev. Robert Breitbarth officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Visitation is Monday, January 4, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home. For more information, please call (219) 661-2600.
