George W. Saroff, age 87, of Portage, IN., passed away Monday, April 16, 2018. He was born on April 8, 1931 in Gary, IN to his late parents, Blagoy and Fania (Rizoff) Saroff and his brother, Steve W. Saroff and sister-in-law, Alice (Crowley) Saroff. He is survived by his only niece, Susan (Saroff) Steege and her husband, Louie Steege; nephew, Michael Steege; niece, Michelle (Steege) Yudt; great great nephew and nieces, McKenzie Steege, Mason Yudt and Mya Yudt; many other loving cousins, family members and friends.

George was an army veteran, college graduate and a retired US Steel ironworker. George loved his mother, her own Macedonian homemade pork and onion pita and cheese and black olives with bread. George enjoyed fishing, hunting, cross word puzzles and reading his newspapers. He was gifted with a very brilliant mind. He was a good and caring man to all of us. He will be sorely missed.
