George P. Sherman, age 83, of Miller Beach passed away Wednesday 11/11/2015 at St Mary Medical Center in Hobart. George was born January 4, 1932 in New Castle, Pennsylvania to the late Phillip and Bobs (Key) Sherman. George was a retiree of Midwest Steel where he worked in their customer service department. George was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a life member of the Miller American Legion Post #279 and the Miller Izaak Walton League.


George is survived by his loving wife of over 54 years Barbara (Poffinbarger) Sherman; one son Darin Sherman of Miller Beach; 3 cousins William Sherman, Sue Moorhead and Charlene Sokal; and 1 sister-in-law Ann (Lawrence) Kast. We would also like to recognize special friends Rick and Nikki Pyle, Alice Pickford, and Peter and Phyllis Passarelli and other friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Monday November 16, 2015 at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel 3781 Central Avenue, Lake Station, Indiana 46405 with Military Honors at 8 pm.

Memorial gifts are preferred to the charity of the donor's choice in lieu of flowers.
