Georgia L. (nee Goin) Butler, age 85, formally of Portage, passed away Monday, September 5, 2016 at Miller's Merry Manor in Hobart. Georgia was born on February 20, 1931 to the late Charles and Gladys (nee Russell) Goin in Carrier Mills, IL. She was one of the founding members and dedicated church member of the First Church of God in South Haven. She worked for the Portage National Bank in the bookkeeping department. Georgia enjoyed crafts and quilting. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.
Georgia is survived by her son, Gary (Sharon) Butler; daughters, Susan Newcomb, Sandra (Kenneth) Szabo; brother, Russell (Lila) Goin; grandchildren, Geoffrey (Shannon) Butler, Stacey (Carlos) Barajas, Malleri (Stephen) Hutton, Stephanie (Jon) Gill, Megan Szabo; 7 great grandchildren; and nephew, Russell Goin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl "Wayne" Butler; sister in law, Carolyn Goin; and nephew, David Goin.

A funeral service for Georgia will be held at 11:00 am with Chaplain Craig Forwalter officiating, Friday, September 9, 2016 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, IN 46368.
