Gerald A. Dixon, age 81 of Portage passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. He was born on March 20, 1942, in Boone Grove, Indiana to the late Ralph and Anne Dixon. On February 18, 1978, he married Anna-Marie Endwright. Jerry retired from Willowcreek Middle School where he worked as Principal for 22 years. He enjoyed hunting quail and pheasant, fishing for bluegill and crappie, trap and skeet shooting, playing cards, and wandering the backroads of Indiana. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League and Kiwanis Club, active in Relay for Life, recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash, Middle School Principal of the Year, and spent a lot of Saturday nights "going racing" at Shadyhill Speedway.

He is survived by his daughter, Lea Bell; two granddaughters, Samantha (Ryan) Beckwith, Emily Bell; sister-in-law Nancy Endwright, nieces and nephews, Tony (Louise), Jerry, Marie (Chilli), Teresa (Bill), Sue (Mike), Clint, Angie (John), Adam (Courtney), Sara (David), Michael, Craig (Tracy), Dakota; the best neighbors ever; and the best lifelong, old geezer buddies a guy could ask for.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Anne Dixon; his beloved wife, Anna-Marie Dixon; and sister, Joan (LeRoy) Becker.

A Celebration of Life will take place Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the Izaak Walton League,1250 Crisman Road #1231 Portage, IN 46368. Please wear your favorite IU spirit wear to honor Gerald's memory.
