Gerald Parr, age 91 of Hobart passed away Friday, December 27, 2013. He was born on January 15, 1922 in Stroh, Indiana to the late Mr. Shirley and Sylvia Parr. He was a Hobart resident since 1969 and was formerly of the Brunswick Section of Gary. Gerald was a member of the Deep River Church of Christ, AARP, and a former member of the American Watchmakers Institute, and the American Welding Association. Gerald retired from U.S. Steel in 1979. He enjoyed woodworking and Story Telling.

He is survived by 5 daughters, Carol (Phil) Sperry of Hebron, IN; Ruth (Mike) Boseck of San Tan, AZ; Marie (Milo) Roscoe of Hobart, IN; Mary (Late Troy) Hill of Valparaiso, IN; Betty (Tony) Sanchez of Eagle River, AK; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara J. Parr, 3 brothers, Dale, Merritt, and Donald Parr, 1 sister, Dorothy Coney, 1 grandson, Matthew Roscoe.

Visitation is Monday, December 30, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Funeral services are Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel with Minister Jerry A. Cleek officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery.
