Gerald W. "Jerry" Uhles, age 78 of Hobart passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015. He was born on August 8, 1936 in McCrory, Arkansas to the late Coy and Elaine (nee Swanson) Uhles. He worked at Inland Steel as a steel worker. Gerry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived by his devoted wife Marlene Uhles of Hobart; two sons, Garry (Viota) Uhles of Cynthiana, Kentucky, Mike (Delores) Uhles of Hobart; three daughters, Cathy (John) Thorne of Chicago, Illinois, Christine (Ed) Saffrahn of Lake Station, Indiana and Carol Uhles of Hobart; 13 grandchildren, Amanda (Joe) Fruland, Timothy Thorne, Justin Little, Zachary Uhles, Brandon, Jacqueline, and Elizabeth Uhles, Joshua and Jenna Uhles, John Saffrahn, Bridget (Scott) Sobecki and Dawn (Chris) Andres and Jeanne West ; four great-grandchildren, Noah, Emma, Zoe and Declan; sister, Roma (Ernie) Schaub of Amarillo, Texas, and brother-in-law Robert (Ruth) Graham of Green Valley, Arizona and other loving family members and friends .
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services are Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Dale P. Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery.
