Gil Ray Jacobs, age 60, of Portage, passed away on October 15, 2016. He was born on June 24, 1956 in Hindman, KY to the late Kelly and Emma Jacobs. One of eight sons, Gil proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Ever since his childhood, Gil was interested in Astronomy and was an avid fan of Star Wars and Star Trek. During mushroom season, he enjoyed hunting Morels, and never shared his secret spot.

He is survived by his son, Justin Jacobs; brothers, Arnold Jacobs, Orbin (Eleanor) Jacobs, Maynard (Linda) Jacobs, Arlan (Lori) Jacobs, Steven Martin; girlfriend, Maureen Holland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kelly and Emma Jacobs; brothers, Eddie and Edward Jacobs.

A memorial visitation for Gil will take place Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the American Legion Post #260, 5675 Mulberry Ave., Portage, Indiana with military honors at 6:30 pm.
