Gilberto Villarruel

Age 66, of Portage, Indiana passed away June 14, 2023. He was born in East Chicago on June 1, 1957, to the late Francisco and Maria (nee Zuniga) Villarruel. Gilberto was a 1976 graduate of Portage High School and completed four years of Portage Vocational Technical Education and was a retired machinist. Gilberto loved cooking and shopping for others, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, and he will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his son Gilberto Ernesto Edward Villarruel of Noblesville, IN; brother, Adam (Donna) Villarruel of Hebron, IN; three sisters, Catalina (Ignacio) Hurtado of Portage, IN, Eva Hayes of Hobart, IN and Susanna "Susie" Villarruel of Valparaiso, Sister-in-law Shelley Villarruel of Seattle, WA;  traveling buddy, Cindi Devyak of Portage; special friends, Patricia Devine, Zorbie, Cruncher, Jeff and Kenny, and many other loving family members and friends.

Gilberto was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Villarruel; mother, Maria Carmen Villarruel; two brothers, Francisco and Ernesto Villarruel.

A funeral service for Gilberto will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 10 a.m.  at Renovation Church 621 N. County Road 450 West Valparaiso, Indiana 46383. The funeral service will be livestreamed on You-tube Renovation Church. The burial will be at McCool Cemetery in Portage, IN.
