Gloria Onyte Gillies, 86, passed away January 14, 2011 in Portage, IN.

At her request no service will be held.

Gloria was born on September 4, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois. Gloria was known by her family and friends for her positive outlook on life and unwavering strength. She loved nature and the environment, and was an avid bird watcher. She was a member of the Portage Garden Club and loved sharing her knowledge of plants.

Gloria attended church services every Saturday and Sunday at the Golden Living Center, and was a true follower of the lord. She will be greatly missed …but now she finally gets her chance to soar… just like those great blue herons she adored so much.

Gloria is survived by her son James Gillies, granddaughter Christina Mays, great-grandson Adan Aitchison, and adopted daughter, Beth Dixon.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jodi Phifer.
