Gloria "Jean" Markle, age 81, of Hobart passed away Friday March 27, 2015 at Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso. Jean was born August 24, 1933 in Crown Point to Lawrence A. and Emma (Post) Kimmel. Jean was a retiree of Federal Mogul Corporation/ Anderson Company where she worked as an accounting clerk in the Receiving Department. She was a former member of the Community United Presbyterian Church in Lake Station. Jean was a Sunday school teacher and a Y.A.B.A. Bowling Coach for 30 years coaching three generations of young bowlers. Jean was also a girl-scout troop leader.
Jean is survived by her four children, Pat (Kurt) Keiser of Valparaiso, Margaret "Peggy" Hennings of Urbana, OH, Susan (Brian) Dickson of Hobart and Rich (Debbie) Markle of Valparaiso; her brother Lawrence (Ann) Kimmel of Mt. Ayr; her sister-in-law Wilma Markle of Middlebury; her seven grandchildren Carl (Candace) Hennings, Billy (Brandy) Hennings, Tami (Dan) Cable, Jesse (Tim) Naumann, Kyle Dickson, Ashlee Markle and Conor Markle; eleven great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and several very beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Emma; her loving husband Richard; three sisters Minnie Malone, Bonnie Ziller and Sharon Harder and two brothers Donald and Larry Kimmel.
Funeral services will be 5:00 pm Thursday April 2, 2015 at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342 with Elder David Swider officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 12 Noon until the service time at 5:00 pm. Cremation will follow. Burial of ashes will be in Evergreen Memorial Park at a later date.
