Gonzalo Gonzalez Sr., age 76, of Lake Station passed away Tuesday, August 04, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 18, 1939 in Lares, Puerto Rico to the late Andres and Amparo (nee Perez) Gonzalez. He retired in 1973 as a Railroad Switchman Operator at Inland Steel. Gonzalo was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, in Portage. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and friend. Gonzalo is survived by his four sons, Gonzalo Gonzalez Jr. of Portage, Carlos (Cynthia) Gonzalez of Berwyn, Illinois, Ricardo (Madonna) Gonzalez of Portage, Fernando (Milagro) Gonzalez of Lake Station; three daughters, Gladys (Henry) Flores of Valparaiso, Migdalia (Fred) Salazar of Portage, and Maria Sauri of Orange City, Florida; ten grandchildren, Roberto, Philip, Tatiana, Araceli, Kayla, Nadiah, Nathan, Christian, Jovanny and Jonathen and many other loving family members and friends. Gonzalo was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elena. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated directly at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church; 2949 Willowcreek Rd., Portage on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. there will be additional visitation at Church from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass begins at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Ridge Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held, Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a 6:30pm prayer service at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, Indiana.
