IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Grace Eleanor
Jenkins
February 2, 1925 – November 6, 2022
Grace Eleanor Jenkins, 97, is now joyously walking the streets of gold. Grace's Lord and Savior called her
home on November 06, 2022, as she rested comfortably at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born
February 2, 1925, to Grant E. Hunsley and Adah I. (Knope) Hunsley in Hanna, Indiana, Grace was a 1943
graduate of Rolling Prairie High School and a regular contributor to the Lake George Home Economics
Group and member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority. Grace will be remembered as a loving mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, and formidable scrabble player.
Grace was a long-time resident of Hobart, Indiana. She served her community for 20 years as the payroll
clerk for the City of Hobart and was a mentor and role model to many young women as a hostess at the
Mr. Steak steakhouse in Merrillville, IN. Grace was a life member and Past Worthy Matron of the
LaPorte Chapter #280 Order of the Eastern Star, and she proudly attended her daughter's initiation into
the beloved Order. Grace was also a Girl Scout troop leader, a talented seamstress, and an accomplished
craftswoman. In addition to her talents and cherished obligations, she was dedicated and took great
pride as a caregiver to her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Grace moved to Georgetown, South Carolina, to live with her daughter Karis and son-in-law Kevin in
2014. Grace became a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and an active, committed participant
in the Covenant II Sunday School Class. Grace loved her church, Community Bible Study, and all the
wonderful friends she made there. Although she always called Indiana her home, Grace loved living in
South Carolina and became enamored with the beauty of the Low Country. She spent many hours sitting
on the porch watching the local wildlife and enjoying the warm, beautiful weather.
Those left to carry Grace's memory in their hearts include Karis L. Langston (Kevin) of Georgetown, SC;
her son William C Jenkins II and daughter-in-law Alice Jenkins of Boise, ID; and her two grandsons:
Jeremie Jenkins of Santa Rosa, CA and Gaevin Jenkins of Ione, CA. Grace was blessed with three greatgrandchildren: Gavin, Peyton, and Riley Ward. Her two dear sisters will remember Grace: Ina Mae
Dietrick of LaPorte, IN, and Shirley Toneff of Hobart, IN, and she will also be remembered by her
extended Langston family, who lovingly and graciously accepted her as one of their own. Grace loved
each of her friends and family members dearly, especially her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and
great-nephews. Grace carried a special place in her heart for her grand-niece, Avery Livingston, for
whom she cared and loved as her own daughter.
Upon her arrival in glory, Grace will be reunited with her father and mother, her grandson Robert J.
Ward III, her brother Richard Hunsley and their sister Doris Buell, along with the love of her life, William
C Jenkins. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 12,2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Hanna Cemetery, in Hanna, Indiana. Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel are entrusted with arrangements.
