Gregorio Sanchez

Gregorio Sanchez, age 94, of Hobart passed away Sunday August 4, 2024, in his home with his family at his side. He was born March 1, 1930, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico to the late Andres and Felicita (Hernandez) Sanchez. He was a retired crane operator from US Steel. He attended St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Station. He was a former member of the Benefico Club. Gregorio loved gardening and growing his own food.

Gregorio is survived by his three children, David (Rosie) Sanchez of Hobart, Mary Ann (Daniel) Noland of Carmel, and Catherine Sanchez of Valparaiso; three grandchildren, Marie Sanchez, Caesare Mendez, and Roberto Herrera; three great grandchildren, Anthony Herrera, Shon Washington, and Angelina Herrera; four brothers, Serefin Sanchez, Eshmial Sanchez, Angel Sanchez, and Roberto Sanchez; three sisters, Carmen Sanchez, Catalina Sanchez, and Tomasa Sanchez; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Catalina Sanchez; brother, Julio Sanchez; and two sisters, Aurelia Sanchez, and Matilda Sanchez.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Saturday, August 10, 2024, at St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Church 2447 Putnam Street Lake Station, Indiana with Rev. Jaime Perea officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Portage, Indiana.
