Greta L. Johnson, age 70, of Hobart, IN, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

Greta was born on December 11, 1952 in Gary, IN to the late John and Greta R. Kroledge.  She married Curtis W. Johnson, Sr. on September 5, 1971 and spent 32 years together until his passing in 2004.  Greta, or "Nanny" as she was known to her family, was a devoted homemaker and mother.  Greta was the president of the Hobart Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Women's Auxiliary and held office for 10 years.  She loved to ride motorcycles with her partner, Dan, whether it was across the country or to other Eagle's Lodges to "raid their clubhouse".

Greta was "mom" to all the neighborhood kids and friends of her children.  She had a beautiful soul and always saw the best in others.  Greta was full of life and energy and loved all of the children in her life.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Greta is survived by her children: Curtis Johnson, Jr., Lucretia (Jeff Fay) Johnson, Jonathon Johnson, and Haileigh Streeter; grandchildren: Shalana (Benjamin Levenson) Fay, Jeffrey Fay, and Ceminah Johnson; great-grandchildren: Mayson, Laylani, and Zaniyah Levenson; partner of 18 years: Dan Streeter; brothers: Gilbert (Martha) Kroledge, (Chuck (late Kathy) Kroledge, and Tony (late Juanita) Kroledge; siblings-in-law: Rich Ashby, Dave McCraney, and Carolyn Kroledge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Greta is preceded in death by her husband: Curtis, Sr.; parents: John and Greta; siblings: Jackie Ashby, Margie (late Jim) Vickery, Butch Kroledge, and Frank Kroledge; and sisters-in-law: Kathy and Juanita Kroledge.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel (600 W Old Ridge Rd, Hobart) on Sunday August 27, 2023 from 12:00-2:00 P.M.  A memorial service will take place immediately following visitation at 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Greta's honor may be made to her family.
