GRETCHEN MARIE MILLER, age 78, of Gary, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015. She was born in Gary on November 21, 1936 to the late John and Katherine Esser. Over the years Gretchen wrote many letters to pen pals all over the country. She enjoyed her family and will be remembered as a kind and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.

Gretchen is survived by her 2 daughters, Christine Miller and Teri Wickberg; 3 grandchildren, Dennis and Heather McIntosh, and Amber Miller; 4 great grandchildren, Gage, Kaley, Brandon and Miles McIntosh; 2 sisters, Barbara Klassen and Kathy (David) Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Shawn Rivera and brother, John Esser.

A memorial service will be Friday, January 9, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., with Pastor Erik Grayvold officiating.
