Guadalupe "Lupe" Castro, age 73 of Hobart passed away Monday, December 17, 2012. She was born on April 19, 1939 in East Chicago, Indiana to the late Roman and Maria Perez. Lupe was a Hobart resident since 1976. She was a loving and adoring wife, mother and grandmother. Lupe enjoyed riding her bike, going to family outings, taking family vacations and taking care of her grandchildren.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Rachel (Edward) Gajos of Hebron, IN; Nora (Larry) Drake of Woodbury, MN; Laura (Chris) Rokosz of Hebron, IN; 2 brothers, Edward (Dolores) Perez of CA; Francisco Perez of East Chicago, IN; 2 sisters, Carmen Perez of Highland, IN; identical twin sister, Antonia "Toy" (Hector) Fernandez of Corpus Christi, TX; 7 grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel, Stephen, Crystal, Jennifer, Alyssa, Adriana.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carlos Castro, 1 son, Rene Garcia, 1 brother, Jose "Adolf" Perez, and 1 sister, Margaret Mora.
Funeral services are Friday, December 21, 2012 beginning with 9:30 a.m. prayers at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart and proceeding to St. Bridget Church for a 10 a.m. mass of Christian burial with Rev. Dominic V. Bertino officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Hobart. Visitation is Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
