Harold L. Allan, age 82, of Hobart, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017. He was born on September 1, 1934 to the late Harold L. and Catherine Helen (nee Shinneman) Allan in Weldon, IL. He was an Eagle Scout and served as a Scout leader of a Boy Scouts troop. Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from US Steel after 33 years of employment. He was a former Commodore of Marquette Yacht Club where he served on the board for 27 years. Harold was also a past owner operator of The Glass Pane in Hobart. Harold will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend.

Harold is survived by his loving wife, of 62 years, Evelyn (nee Hoops) Allan; daughter, Michelle Allan; brother, Stewart Allan; and sisters, Deloris Jackson, Gloria Axtell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in Harold's honor, may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Hobart, 654 E. 4th Street.

A memorial service, with military honors, will take place Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Hobart, 654 E. 4th Street with Pastor Rebecca Smith officiating. Visitation will be held, just prior to the service, from 1-3 pm at church. Harold's final resting place will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
