Harold C. Burton,
age 88 of Valparaiso passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012 at VNA Hospice in Valparaiso. Harold was born in Kildav, Kentucky on December 4, 1923 to Bill and Eva Burton. Harold retired from US Steel in 1984 after 30 ½ years. He enjoyed football and yard work. Harold is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie (nee Belew); 2 sons, Rich Burton of Valparaiso and Rodney (Judi) Burton of Ossian, Indiana; 1 daughter Karan (Jim) Nath of Fort Worth, Texas; 2 grandchildren, Toby (Natalie) Hubbard and Karrie (Heath) Barfield of TX; 3 great grandchildren, Reagan Hubbard, Brylee Barfield, and Preslie Barfield of TX; 2 step grandchildren, Mike Newland and Christy Newland of Fort Wayne; 3 step great grandchildren, Tyland Newland, Mark Newland and Brooklyn Newland of Fort Wayne; 3 brothers, Clyde Burton of FL, Sygle (Christine) Burton of Hobart and Donald (Frieda) Burton of Hobart; 3 sisters, Virginia Bryant of Portage, Maxine Kelly of Evarts, KY, and Norma (Harold) Blevins of TN. His parents, 3 brothers, Raymond, Jim and Douglas and 2 sisters, Gladys Madison and Evelyn Burton, preceded him in death.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice of Valparaiso.A Funeral Service for Harold will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, IN with Pastor Jeff Scheffee and Pastor Wayne Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Heritage Cemetery in Portage. A visitation for Harold will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
