Harold Elliott Warren, "Humpty", born March 19, 1925 in Cadiz, KY to the late Othello and Cora (Solomon) Warren, went to be with his Lord and Savior March 5, 2015 at the age of 89. Humpty was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Modest Jean (Cannon) Warren. Even in his last days, Humpty's storytelling would revert to Modest with a final statement, "giving her all the credit for any success I ever had." He always acted with integrity, class, grace, humility, open mindedness, and a sense of fairness.
Humpty was an ironworker retired from local union #395 in 1987 and a member of Woodmen of the World. He served on the USS Canberra during World War II, entering the service from high school as a seaman and mustering out at the end of the war as petty officer 3rd class. He enjoyed gardening, Hobart football, hummingbirds, and identifying birds by sight as well as song. Humpty enjoyed reading and occasionally writing poetry. Closing lines in his poetry speak of his heart; in one of his poems he finishes with, "so this being said, this is my toast, I love my family most." In a poem titled "God's Promise", he ends with, "He has promised me a Kingdom, you see, and I have the Kingdom of God within me, and I'm home at last."
Harold is survived by his three sons Larry (Tara) Warren of Monee, Il, Rod (Carolie) Warren of Hobart and Jeff (Debbie) Warren of Huntsville Al; his nine grandchildren Matt, Ryan, Lisa, Mike Shannon, Curtis, Brooke, Jessica and Justi, and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Modest, his parents, and many brothers and sisters.
