Harry J. Wadding, age 85, of Lake Station, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017. He was born on October 31, 1931 in Indiana, PA to the late Harry and Elsie Wadding. On August 15, 1959, he married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Ondo. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. As a wounded combat veteran, he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Harry was a member of the American Legion Post # 100, the VFW Post # 9323 and the Korean War Veterans Association Chapter # 3.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Shirley A. Wadding; sons, James J. Wadding, Jody (Jill) Wadding; daughter, Toni (James) Clayton; 6 grandchildren, Larissa (Chris) Houser, Kristin (Tony) Sedlmeyer, Jonas Clayton, Jordan Wadding, Jenna Wadding, Jake Wadding; great grandchildren, Gemma and Asher Houser; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Elsie Wadding; grandson, Andrew James Lemaitre; sisters, Louise Frederick, Betty Nastick, and Ruth Lauster. He sorely missed his devoted four legged companion, Precious, who passed in October.
Visitation for Harry will be held Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Ave., Lake Station with a VFW service at 7:00 pm. A funeral service for Harry will take place Friday, February 10, 2017 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Strietelmeier officiating. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
