Helen Ann Grochowski

Age 84 a longtime Portage resident passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 14, 2025. She was born on May 7, 1941, in Gary, Indiana to the late Gregorio and Jessie (nee Vasquez) Castro. On April 6,1968 she married the love of her life Anthony Grochowski. Helen was a devoted homemaker whose love and warmth filled her family's lives. She found joy in cooking delicious meals, playing bingo and trying her luck with lottery tickets, but her greatest happiness came from spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Helen will be remembered for her kind heart.

Helen is survived by her son Greg (Jenny) Grochowski; daughter, Antoinette (Dave) Letson; grandchildren, Anthony Grochowski, David Letson. Shellina (Luke Zerza) Letson and Jessica Grochowski; brother, Don Castro, numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony Grochowski; her parents, Gregorio and Jessie Castro, brother, Raymond Castro; two sisters, Angie Jenkins and Gloria Lynch.
