Helen L. Masty

Helen L. Masty (nee Conhartoski), age 95 passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at her granddaughter's home in Kouts. She was born on October 15, 1925 in Gile, Wisconsin. Helen was a professional accordionist before she met and married her beloved husband. She was a BINGO fanatic and was known to play 20-30 cards at the same time. She routinely watched her favorite television shows and enjoyed reading mystery and romance novels. Helen was a dedicated member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Station for almost 70 years.

Helen is survived by her sons, David Masty of Chesterton, Dr. Jerome (Patricia) Masty of Hilliard, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; her brother John Conhartoski, two sisters, Cookie (John) Kolodzie and Dora Ruby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, WWII Army veteran Mike J. Masty in 1989; and nine brothers and sisters. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to Helen's granddaughter, Kristen Masty, for the loving end of life care she provided for her grandmother.

Visitation with a short prayer service for Helen will take place Friday, October 8, 2021, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Avenue, Lake Station. Upon completion of the prayer service a procession to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church will take place to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at noon.
