Helen E. Neitzel, age 97, a longtime resident of Hobart, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. She was born on June 8, 1914 in East Chicago, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Medvecz. She was married to Harold Neitzel on June 23, 1934. Helen was a member of Saint Bridget's Catholic Church for 75 years, a member of the Saint Anne's Confraternity, a member of the Hobart Y.M.C.A. Helen loved cooking and baking and tending to her rose garden.
Helen is survived by her loving family; daughter Gail (Rod) Fagert, Paden City, West Virginia, grandchildren, Brian Milenkoff, Hobart, Kevin (Penny) Milenkoff, Homewood, Illinois, Therese (Richard) Jasper, Lihue, Hawaii, Ted (Tracie) Milenkoff, Valparaiso, Mark (Leasia) Fagert, Sugarland, Texas, Tim (Leslie) Fagert, Durham, North Carolina, Matt (Jodi) Fagert, Merlin, Oregon, Michelle Parker, New Martinsville, West Virginia, Troy (Hattie) Greene, Bloomington, IN, Barron (Jennifer) Greene, Elk Grove Village, Illinois, Kari (Dustin) Smith, Aurora, Colorado, and Kent (Tara) Neitzel, Centennial, Colorado, 17 great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild, and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold Neitzel, daughter Gwendolyn Milenkoff, daughter Janet Greene, son Norman Neitzel, brothers John, Andy, Joe, and Maxwell, and sisters Elizabeth, Rose, Anna, and Mary.
A visitation for Helen Neitzel will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Rees Funeral Home – Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Morning prayers will be offered at 9:30 am on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Rees followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am at Saint Bridget's Catholic Church, 568 East 2nd Street, Hobart. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials in Helen's memory may be made to Saint Bridget's Church.
