Helen Napalowski (Nee Nemtuda), age 97, passed away at home in Portage Thursday October 2, 2014. Helen was a former longtime Lake Station resident. Helen was born October 19, 1916 in Gary, Indiana to the late John and Mary (Maturbanich) Nemtuda. Helen was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Helen was a member of Assumption BVM Church in New Chicago. She was also a member of the Bonner Senior Center in Portage and the P.N.A. Lodge #912.

Helen is survived by two daughters-in-law Lois Napalowski of Portage and Angie Napalowski of Hobart; four grandchildren Lori (Ruben) Perez of Lake Station, Karen (Chris) Jackson of San Diego, CA, Joey Napalowski of Valparaiso and Melinda Napalowski of Hobart; six great grandchildren Alex, Ayla, Rhiannon, Anna, Jamie and Emily; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband John; two sons John and Carl; her parents; a sister Mary Warzecha; and six brothers Andy, Ray, John, Steve, Mike and Joe Nemtuda.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin Saturday October 11, 2014 with 9:30 am prayers at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN and proceed to Assumption BVM Church at 3530 Illinois Street Hobart, IN with Rev. Frank Torres officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Portage, Indiana. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 pm at the Funeral Home.
