Helen Pachapa, age 89 of Hobart passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013. She was born on August 30, 1923 in Hobart, Indiana to the late Andrew and Mary Pachapa. She was a Lew Wallace graduate and went on to Indiana University where she earned a B.A. in Journalism in 1954. She worked for the Chicago Tribune as a writer. Helen was a member of St. Bridget Church and St Anne's Confraternity. She was also a member of HIEDC, St. Mary Medical Center Auxiliary, and Women in Communications, Chicago Chapter. Helen loved traveling.
She is survived by her cousins.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Pachapa, and Margaret Pachapa.
There will be a mass of Christian burial on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. directly at St. Bridget Church, corner of Front and Center Street, Hobart with Rev. Dominic V. Bertino officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be just prior to the mass from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Bridget Church. Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel handling arrangements.
