Helen Rebus (nee Ledak)

Age 96, of Valparaiso passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 20, 1926, in Gary, Indiana to the Late George and Mary (nee Kozel) Ledak. Prior to marriage Helen worked for United States Steel as a Clerk. On October 17, 1953, Helen married Paul M. Rebus and they spent 47 wonderful years together. Helen loved spending time with her family and sharing memories. In her youth she enjoyed dancing with her late sister, Mary. Helen was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Valparaiso.  Helen will be remembered as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Helen is survived by her five children Paul Jr. (Lynn) Rebus of Lisle, Illinois, Mary (Todd) Hamm of Frankfort, Illinois, George (Gail) Rebus of Valparaiso, Indiana, John (Maria) Rebus of Sevierville, Tennessee, and Donna (Fiore) Menconi of Taylors, South Carolina; 13 grandchildren, Jake (Jamie) Rebus, Cody Rebus, Kate (Ivan) Ortiz, David (Emily) Rebus, Lauren Hamm, Bryan (Renee) Hamm, Kari (Nick) Kohlhepp , Brandon (Thi) Rebus, Erin (Brian) Bobos, Sara (Ryan) Mack, John Rebus, Dan Rebus and Nicolai Menconi and 8 great grandchildren, Giada, Jenelle, Gavin, Logan, Lucas, Kaya, Landon, and Carson, numerous nieces and nephews; two godchildren, Casimer Rosiecki Jr., and Richard Rosiecki and other loving family members and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Rebus, her father, George Ledak, mother, Mary Ledak and sister, Mary Rosiecki, and brother in law, Casimer Rosiecki Sr..

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows, 356 W. Seven Mile Road, Valparaiso, IN 46385 at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023, with Rev. Paul Quanz celebrating. Visitation from 9:00-11:00 am also at Our Lady of Sorrows, with a 10:30 a.m. Rosary.  Burial, Calvary Cemetery, Portage, Indiana.  Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel are entrusted with arrangements.
