Helen J. Rice

HELEN J. RICE, age 98, of Hobart, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Millers Merry Manor in Hobart. Helen had been a Hobart resident since 1941 and was formerly of North Dakota. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hobart. She loved nature, and wrote a nature column for the Hobart Gazette. Helen was a Girl Scout leader for many years.
Helen is survived by her son, Steve (Nancy) Rice of Wisconsin, daughters, Peggy Osiel of Hobart and Midge (Tom) Hedrick of Nebraska, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sister, Esther McKinney of Florida and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Rice in 1987, daughter-in-law, Pat Rice and son-in-law, Walt Osiel.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11:30 am at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Rev. David Banning officiating.
