Henry F. Kanzler, age 89, of Portage, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016. He was born on November 17, 1926 in Batavia, Illinois to the late Henry and Anna Kanzler. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II. Henry retired after 42 years of working as a shipping manager for W.F. Hall Printing in Chicago. He was a member of the American Legion Post #260 in Portage. Henry was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs.
He is survived by his children, Juliana (Fred) Walker, Diana (Milo) Rodgers, Anita Wilkins, Randy Kanzler, Cindy (Mike) Toussaint, Natalie Nowinowski Lamphere; grandchildren, Freddy (Ruth) Walker, Robert (Stacy) Walker, Randy Walker, Dawn (Albert) Gamez, Christopher (Daina) Rodgers, Melinda Rodgers, Vera Wilkins, James Wilkins, Kyle Lamphere, Haley Lamphere, Kayla Toussaint, Brett Toussaint; great grandchildren, Nicole Walker, Faith Walker, Christian Walker, Ashley Hoekelberg, Stefan Miller, Kyla Gamez, Bradley Rodgers, Lillian Rodgers, Hunter Rodgers.
Henry was preceded in death in 1989 by his beloved wife, Vera Kanzler. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Henry's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
A memorial service for Henry will take place Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage.
