Henry J. Swider, age 70, of Lake Station passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday February 9, 2016 at the St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Henry was born March 21, 1945 in Gary, Indiana to the late Henry and Blanche (Markle) Swider, Sr. Henry retired from Centennial Steel as a maintenance mechanic he also worked as a butcher for several local groceries. Henry was a lifelong area resident.
He is survived by his loving wife Connie; his two sons Jeffrey (Janet) Swider and Christopher (Shelly) Swider both of Lake Station; his two brothers David (Debbie) Swider of LaPorte and Donald Mathas of Valparaiso; his two sisters Shirley (Bud) Blossom of Chesterton and Sherry (Stewart) Gillespie of Lake Station; his two grandchildren Tristan and Trisha Swider; and several nieces, nephews and loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Swider, Sr. and Blanche Mathas.
Visitation will be Friday February 12, 2016 from 4-8 PM at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel 3781 Central Avenue, Lake Station, IN 46405.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are preferred to Henry's family.
