HERBERT A. KUEHN, age 92, of Portage, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014. Herbert was born on January 16, 1922 in Chicago. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was retired from central maintenance at Midwest Steel. Herbert was an avid horseshoe player at the American Legion. He enjoyed bowling, gardening and singing in a barbershop quartet.

Herbert is survived by his 3 sons, Kenneth (Dawn) Kuehn and Larry (Lisa) Kuehn all of Valparaiso, Herbert L. (Cindy) Kuehn of Westville; 3 daughters, Nancy (Ronald) Bowgren of FL, Judy (Tim) Kay of AL and Sharry (George) Murawski of Oak Forest, IL; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 55 years, Irene; parents, William and Emily Kuehn; brother, William E. Kuehn; 2 sisters, Ella Richards and Meta Szirovecz.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Herbert's memory may be made to VNA Hospice.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Rev. Josh Skogen officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Private graveside burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.
