Herman "Sid" Wilson, age 79 a longtime Northwest Indiana resident passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014. He was born on January 3, 1935 in Aliceville, "Sapps", Alabama to the late Joseph and Dovie Wilson. He retired from U.S. Steel after many years of service. Herman enjoyed horseshoes, cleaning cars, gardening, being outside in nature and giving the kids a hard time.
He is survived by 3 sons, Sidney Wilson of Hobart, IN; Lonnie Smith of Valparaiso, IN; Tim (Cheryl) Wilson of Oakland, KY; 2 daughters, Tonya Wilson of Aliceville, AL; Sandy Buchfuerer of Hobart, IN. 1 brother, William "Bud" (Virginia) Wilson of Hobart, IN; 1 sister, Maude Goodson of Aliceville, AL; 6 grandchildren, Ashlee, Cydnee, Matison, Jacob, Evan, and Eli, and 1 great-granddaughter, Marley..
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn J. Wilson, 1 son, Bradley Wilson, and many brothers and sisters.
Funeral services are Monday, March 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Priest Tim Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Portage.
