Homer Vernon Taulbee, Jr., 74, of DeMotte, passed away on April 2, 2022.
Homer was born on October 7, 1947 in Palmer, Tennessee to Homer Vernon, Sr. and Ailene (nee Powell). Homer is survived by his wife Christine (nee Christakis), son Jonathan (Brooke), daughter Jennifer (Jeff) Zampillo, daughter Jessica (fiancé Jeff Kawa), and grandchildren Tayten, Kiptyn, and Greenley Taulbee. He is also survived by his brother Harold (Cathy), sister Margie (Troy) Billingsley, sister Charlene (Darrel) Bagley, several nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends including lifelong friend, Terry LaCoss. Homer was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Brent Bagley.
Homer graduated from River Forest High School, class of 1966. He attended Valparaiso Technical Institute and Purdue North Central. The majority of Homer's working years were as a Field Engineer with Saturn Machine and Welding. Homer loved his family more than anything and enjoyed spending time with them on any occasion. Homer was a United States Air Force and Vietnam Veteran and was stationed at Bien Hoa Air Base in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. During his tour there, Homer was a Crew Chief and he maintained his beloved A-37. He would visit Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to see her once again. He loved aircraft and flying in any form, so much so, that he became a powered-parachute pilot. Additionally, Homer was an Amateur Radio Operator alongside his father, Homer, Sr., and this began his love of electronics. Homer never met a stranger and was someone you could never forget. He lit up every room into which he walked, with his heartwarming personality and ability to make anyone laugh. Homer will be dearly and forever loved and missed by his family.
