Hubert A. Greenwall Jr.

Hubert A. Greenwell Jr., age 71, of Portage, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026. He was born on November 24, 1954, in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Hubert A. Greenwell Sr. and Anna Frances (nee Polick) Greenwell. Hubert married, Charlotte Ruth (nee Witt) Greenwell, in Hobart in 1999.

Hubert retired from Mittal Steel after 42 years of dedicated service. He was known for being stubborn, patriotic, and quite the jokester. Hubert had a kind heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed collecting eagles and knives, traveling, fishing and camping. Above all else, Hubert loved his family and especially cherished his Sunday morning coffee dates with his son, Jason.

He is survived by his son, Jason (Elizabeth) Greenwell; daughter, April (David) Littleton; sister, Theresa Greenwell; grandchildren, David James Littleton, Kyra Renee Greenwell, and Katelyn Renee Specht; great-grandchildren, Emmett, Noelle, Layla, and Baylee Specht; along with many other loving family members and friends.

Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Anna Greenwell; his beloved wife, Charlotte Ruth Greenwell; and his brothers, Joseph R., Clayton R., and David Lee Greenwell.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Humane Society of Hobart 2054 IN-130 Hobart, Indian 46342 or on their facebook page in memory of Hubert would be appreciated.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel. Funeral services will take place Monday, May 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial following at Calvary Cemetery.
