Ila F. (Nairn) Hollowell, age 98, of Portage, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Ila was born in Johnstown, PA on January 6, 1918 to the late Dorsey and Jesse (nee Wilson) Berkebile. She sang in the choir at the Wheatfield 1st Baptist Church for 15 years. Ila was a wonderful cook and baker. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Ila is survived by son, Patrick Nairn; daughters, Marcia (David) Tyrka, Judy (Leroy) Walworth; 3 step children; grandchildren, Jacqueline Nairn, Patricia (Pete) Boer, Maureen Nairn, Lee (Bonnie) Miller, Patricia Huerto, Frank (Jonathan) Lassise Jr., Robert (Toni) Collins, Douglas (Jean Marie) Collins, Jenica (Samah) Sutherland, Ila Jane (Reno) Banogon, Daniel Walworth, Jennifer (Miguel) Gonzalez, Tony (Beth) Tyrka, Julie Satmary; 24 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Patrick Nairn in 1965; late husband, Marvin Hollowell in 1998; son, Lanny; daughter, Carolyn Carlton; daughter in law, Betty Nairn; brothers, Harold, Dorsey, Merdith, and Wayne Berkebile; sisters, Olive Sullivan, Velma Sanacrouse, Zola Stiffler; grandchild, Ronna Miller; and great grandchildren, Brittney Maddox, Jordan Brothers.

VNA Hospice for the nurses outstanding care of Ila at the Gabrielle Home.

A funeral service for Ila, with Pastor Donald Gear officiating, will take place Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave, Portage, IN 46368. Burial will follow at Wheatfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 2-8 pm at the funeral home. For more information, please call 219-762-3013.
