Ilene R. Romeo, 86, of Hobart, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Ilene was born on January 8, 1930, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Benjamin and Vera (nee Davis) Kietzman. Ilene worked at Anderson Co. as an assembly inspector for 27 years until she retired in 1992. She listened to Big Band music and loved to go out dancing. She was a past member of the Moose Lodge #783. In her free time, Ilene enjoyed playing card games such as Poker and No-Peek. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with and taking care of her grandchildren.
Ilene is survived by two sons, Robert Jeffery Hyde, Samuel (Diane) Romeo; three daughters, Pamela (Cory) Dunn, Tina Romeo, Marie Hayward; 12 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister Betty McDonald.
Ilene is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lois Thornton; brother, Ralph "Woody" Kietzman.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations in Ilene's honor may be made to Unity Hospice of Northwest Indiana, 8407 Virginia Street Merrillville, IN 46410 for their individualized care and kindness.
A memorial service for Ilene will take place Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. Burial at Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart.
