IMA JEAN CURRY, age 59, of Hobart, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at Saint Mary Medical Center after a 14-month battle with cancer. She was born in Oneida, Kentucky on February 7, 1952 to the late Willie and Edna Cheek. Ima Jean married Thomas Curry on November 4, 1967 and then moved Northwest Indiana. She was a floor associate at Wal-Mart for many years. Ima Jean was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Portage. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, camping and fishing. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Ima Jean is survived by her husband, Thomas; daughter, Teena (Scott) Taylor of Lake Station; 2 grandsons, Justin (fiancée, Nikki Mundo) Taylor and Jordan Taylor; 7 brothers and sisters, Troy (Jessie) Cheek, Kenneth (Gail) Cheek, Susie Burns, Roscoe (Bobbie) Cheek, Ethel (Ron) Smallwood, Sonia (Elbert) Lipps and Brenda (Denver) Cheek; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Edith Proffit and Jackson Cheek.
