Ines P. Miranda, 80, of Gary, Indiana, passed away Sunday, October 22 in Valparaiso surrounded by his family.  He was born April 20, 1943, in Orocovis, Puerto Rico to the late Guanes Miranda and Rosa Torres.

Ines grew up in Puerto Rico and married Virgen Mina Miranda on November 7, 1965, and shared their lives together for 53 years until Virgen's passing in 2018.  Ines and Virgen moved the family to Indiana in 1969 where they raised their 7 children.  Ines worked at Inland Steel for more than 34 years and retired in 2003.  He was also a devout Catholic and a member of Holy Angels Cathedral in Gary.  In his spare time, he enjoyed vegetable gardening and caring for his roosters.  He will be known as jokester with a good sense of humor, with special nicknames for the ones he loves; and will always be remembered for playing the numbers.  Above all, Ines adored his family and cherished the time he spent with them.

Ines is survived by his children, Jerry Miranda, Jose Miranda, Ivan (Wanda) Miranda, Rosa (Brian) Spencer, Virgenmina Miranda, Gladys Miranda, and Veronica (Michael) Garcia; grandchildren, Julyssa, Jordalys, Amber, Milagro, Jomari, Ashley, Ivan Jr., Jose Jr., Jose, Ivan, Allycia, Michaela, Gabriel; great grandchildren, Nehemiah, Julian, Carlos, Julyanna, Kingston, Kamaiyah, Giovanni, and RosaLiyah; siblings, Tony Miranda, Juan Miranda, Manuel (Andrea) Miranda, Santana (Josefina) Miranda, Raul Miranda, Luis Miranda, Lucy (Bob) Wagner, Margo (Angel) Adriano, Felicita Miranda, Maria Miranda, and Masin (Teofelio) Alvarado; and many, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ines was preceded in death by his wife, Virgen; brother, Andres Miranda; and special nephews, Freddy Sanchez and Carlito Colon.

Family will receive friends from 4:00pm – 8:00pm Thursday, October 26 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, IN 46368.  Funeral Mass will be at 11:00am Friday, October 27 at Holy Angels Cathedral, 640 Tyler Street, Gary, Indiana 46402; interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
