INEZ M. ROSE, age 92, of Hobart, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Millers Merry Manor in Hobart. Inez had been a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident and was a member of United Steelworkers of America Local #1010. During World War II she was like "Rosie the Riveter", starting her employment with Inland Steel in the #2 Cold Strip on June 11, 1943 and retiring on June 28, 1990.
Inez is survived by 2 daughters, Linda Romano and Gloria Saccone, both of Connecticut, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, dear friends & neighbors, Phil & Donna Wirick of Hobart and her beloved canine companion, Kelsey Kodiak Bear. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman "Jack" Rose, daughter, Dixie Forbes, brothers, Norvell & Wendell Elms and sister, Ileta Roloff.
The visitation and funeral services will both be held Monday, October 3, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Visitation is from 11:00 to 1:00 pm with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
