Irene Mary Beauprey (nee De Grand), age 91 a former Hobart and Portage resident passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the Bella Vista Golden Living Center in Rapid City, South Dakota. She was born on April 13, 1921 in Rock, Michigan to the late Victor and Julia De Grand. Irene worked as a farmer and a housekeeper. She married Walter Beauprey who preceded her in death. She was as an active member of St Bridget Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, country music and she loved Bingo.
She is survived by 2 sons, Victor Beauprey of CA; Charles (Robin) Beauprey of Rapid City, SD; 1 daughter, Mary Rita (Joe) Martinez of St. Louis, MO; 1 sister, Theresa Finn of Rock, MI; 5 grandchildren, Amber, Teresa, Sammie, Rachel, Jonathan, 1 great-grandson, Coalton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Julia De Grand, husband, Walter Beauprey Sr., 1 son, Walter Beauprey Jr., 3 brothers, Lawrence, Eddie, and Paul De Grand, 2 sisters, Evelyn Chouinard, Mary Ellen Buchholz, 1 granddaughter, Chrystal Marie, and 1 grandson, Tommy Martinez.
Funeral services are Friday, September 21, 2012 beginning with 9:30 a.m. prayers and proceeding to St. Bridget Church for a 10 a.m. mass of Catholic burial with Rev. Dominic V. Bertino officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Visitation is Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
