Irene A. Fitzgerald, age 75 of Portage, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014. She was born on January 3, 1939 in Creston, Indiana to the late William and Mamie Rich. She was a longtime Portage resident and a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church. Irene worked at Millers Merry Manor as a Nurse's Aide. She enjoyed knitting.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Fitzgerald of Portage, IN; 2 sons, Vondall Fitzgerald, Sr. of Portage, IN; Wayne Fitzgerald of Valparaiso, IN; 2 daughters, Crystal (Earl) Tapley of Lake Station, IN; Dawn Fitzgerald of Portage, IN; 1 sister, Margaret Gutt of Chesterton, IN; and 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 5 grandchildren.

Visitation is Friday, September 26, 2014 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage.
Funeral services are Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 5785 Mulberry Ave. with Rev. Randall Forsythe officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Crown Point Call (219) 762-3013 or visit us online at www.Reesfuneralhomes.com.
