Irene M. Hallett, age 86, of Chesterton and formerly of DeMotte and Glen Park passed away Saturday December 28, 2013 at the Waters of Duneland Nursing Center in Chesterton. Irene was born January 6, 1927 in Gary, Indiana to the late Mike and Anna (Cibak) Slovenka. She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother and had worked in the Metallurgical Lab at USX. Irene was a former volunteer with the Jasper County Public Library.

Irene is survived by four daughters, Joann (Ed) Jagiela of Orlando, FL, Carol (Steve) Arwood of DeMotte, Deborah (Chris) Waymire of Monticello and Diana (Mike) Spodinok of Hobart; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband James, her parents and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday December 31, 2013 at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN 46342 with Father James W. Meade officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 am until the time of services at 12 noon at the Funeral Home.
