Iris P. Kuhn (nee Bradshaw)

Iris P. Kuhn, age 81, of Portage, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. She was born on December 21, 1944, in Danville, Virginia.

On January 31, 1961, Iris snuck out of her parents’ house to marry the love of her life, Joseph Kuhn. At the time, everyone said it would never work out. More than 66 years later, Iris and Joseph were still together, proving that their love was meant to last a lifetime.

Iris dedicated more than 40 years of her life to working as a nursing home administrator. She spent the last 25 years of her career at Miller Beach Terrace, where she was deeply loved and respected by her employees. Iris was known for being compassionate, fair, and willing to give people an opportunity. Throughout her career, she helped employ individuals who may otherwise have struggled to find work, always believing in the value and potential of others.

After retiring and with her children grown, Iris was blessed with the opportunity to travel the country with her beloved husband. She treasured the time they spent together and the many memories they made along the way.

In her quieter moments, Iris enjoyed working on picture puzzles and Sudoku. Each night before going to sleep, she enjoyed listening to the Gaither Vocal Band, a comforting part of her daily routine.

Iris will be deeply missed by her husband, Joseph Kuhn; her children, Joseph Daniel (Kathy) Kuhn, January (Robert) Szweda, Jessica (Robert) Novick, and Jacqueline Kuhn; grandchildren, Ashley (Paul) Whitecotton, Caitlin Kuhn, and Emily (Jordan) Peters; great-granddaughter, Ruby Whitecotton; brother, Peter Bradshaw; and sister, Debbie Lynch.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Potter; brother, Michael Bradshaw; and sister, Hermine Hall.

A memorial service celebrating Iris’s life will take place at a later date at Portage Christian Church.
