Irma L. Yovanovich, age 96, of Portage passed away with her family at her side. Irma was born October 10, 1918 in Oglesby, Illinois to the late Louis and Ida (Rogiani) Parnisari. Irma was an accountant with Gary Community School System prior to retiring. She was a former member of the Business and Professional Women of Gary, AARP, St. Mary Medical Center Auxiliary and the United Methodist Women's Group. Irma was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Hobart. She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking and traveling.
Irma is survived by two sons Allan (Janet) Yovanovich of Altadena, CA and Walter "Paul" (Dawn) Yovanovich of Valparaiso; three daughters Evelyn Yovanovich of Portage, Mary (Buddy) Wheet of Albuquerque, NM and Carol Ann Lehman of Tulsa, OK; ten grandchildren Rico (Danica) Yovanovich, Bethamy (Joseph) Gallagher, Nicholas (Valerie) Yovanovich, Alex (Audra) Yovanovich, Neil (Diana) Yovanovich, Robbie Wheet, Stephanie Wheet, Dr. Glenn Scott (Jennifer) Wheet, Heather (Chris) Fagan and Andy (Brenda) Lehman; and eleven great grandchildren Jack, William, Mary, David, Lily, Ryan, Nathan, Courtney, Lucy, Mia and Cooper.
Irma was preceded in death by her loving husband Milan; her parents; and her brother Henry Parnisari.
Memorial services will be conducted at 4 pm on Sunday December 28, 2014 at the 1st United Methodist Church of Hobart 654 E. 4th Street, Hobart, Indiana with Rev. Rebecca Lynn Smith officiating.
Memorial gifts are preferred to the 1st United Methodist Church of Hobart or to the Porter County VNA Hospice Foundation.
